Description

Antaris is the world’s first software platform that dramatically simplifies the design, simulation, and operation of satellites. Antaris features easy satellite design tools, next-generation digital twinning, complete spacecraft software, and secure space data networking. The Antaris Cloud Platform utilizes open APIs and open-source software to provide seamless non vendor locked integration paths for all users. Antaris is proven to cut time-to-orbit by 2X and reduce constellation lifetime cost by 10X. Many of the Antaris team were executives or lead engineers at Planet Labs where they deployed hundreds of satellites to LEO. They experienced first-hand the need for automation when operating a large constellation of over 200 Dove satellites. The requirement for and understanding of the methods required for automated handling of off-nominal conditions is driven by direct experience operating the constellation. On a number of occasions, the lack of automation for off-nominal conditions resulted in constellation-wide failures, resulting in the complete loss of a number of satellites. The proposed Antaris TACFI work addresses this critical problem using new and novel implementations of the satellite software Antaris has developed and AI/ML solutions to accelerate and automate space missions.

Score Rationale

AFWERX TACFI is a modern fast-track OT instrument earning the top pathway score, and the ~$1.9M ceiling with an implied transition pathway via TACFI's commercialization structure lands solidly in the mid tier for award/transition. Problem framing and AI/ML fit are both middling — the self-healing/anomaly-automation concept is genuinely AI-shaped (off-nominal detection, autonomous response), but the solicitation description reads more like a company capability brief than a bounded problem statement with defined success metrics, data availability, or a named end-user operator; the AI/ML component also appears secondary to the broader Antaris platform integration story, which is primarily a spacecraft software and digital twin play.
