Description
The Air Force has an immediate need for replacement of obsolete D300 Hardware Modeling Systems. These systems are critical to the successful development and support of test programs at numerous Department of Defense locations. Integrated Test Solutions will complete the development of a fully functional D300 replacement system utilizing commercially available digital test hardware. All D300 Hardware Modeling legacy hardware will be replaced by new hardware and software designs. The effort to complete the design of the Next Generation Hardware Modeler will continue the design efforts started under the SBIR topic AF172-005 (Phase I, II), and current Phase III award. This will include a market ready Next Generation Modeler based on the Prototype being built in the Phase III award. This will solve the Air Force’s most critical obsolescence issues for LASAR Hardware modeling. The current prototype effort will replace the system controller, pattern generator, timing generator, and VMS/UNIX based computing system with modern new Teradyne HS-SUB eDigital resources. It will also replace the legacy power systems with modern power supplies. The proposed TACFI effort will be to advance the design of the Next Generation Hardware Modeler development prototype into a completely redesigned, modern Hardware Modeler. This effort will build on the previous efforts by replacing all legacy D300 components including the DUS Card rack, DA101 interface cards, and the system backplane. The results will be a brand new ready for production hardware modeler that is 100% compatible with Teradyne’s LASAR simulation environment and all existing legacy DUS Cards/Hardware Models. The final development phase of this SBIR/TACFI effort will be to design new modern hardware model DUS Cards. The current Teradyne cards are in short supply and have been out of production for years. They contain many obsolete components and connectors. The final obsolescence issue with LASAR hardware modeling will be the update and replacement of the DUS card with a modern assembly that can be purchased by the Next Generation Hardware Modeler customer to develop new component hardware models for complex devices in LASAR simulations. The Next Generation Modeler with new DUS Cards will remove 100% of the obsolescence of the Teradyne D300 and be sustainable for the foreseeable future. This effort will conclude with ITS manufacturing the first complete Next Generation Modeler. Once fabricated ITS will extensively test the unit and perform operational comparisons with the legacy D300 to verify all of the design criteria are met. The unit will be validated using a defined factory acceptance test procedure. At the conclusion of this effort, the Next Generation Hardware Modeler be ready for commercial production units and sale to the DAF, other branches of the DoD, and commercial entities.
